King Frederik thanks the Sirius Patrol for the opportunity to once again feel the rush of the incomparable forces of nature. He has spent four days in Greenland this week.
King Frederik has been in Greenland from Monday to Thursday, where he was on a sleigh ride with the Sirius patrol.
The royal house announced this on its official website and on Instagram on Saturday morning.
– I can never get enough of Greenland, writes King Frederik and continues:
– Spent a few days this week on a sleigh ride with the Sirius patrol. After a stopover in Mestersvig, where it turned into a quick table football match, we started out at Hvalrosodden, made our way past Aalborg Hus and ended up in Daneborg, from where the first sled team competed 75 years ago.
Since then, over 500 skilled Sirius people have patrolled the harsh and beautiful national park, says King Frederik, who expresses his “deepest respect” to everyone who has been.
– Thanks to Sirius for the opportunity to again feel the rush of nature’s matchless forces, he adds.
It did not appear from the royal house’s official calendar until Saturday afternoon that the king had been north.
In 2000, King Frederik, who was then crown prince, took part in “Expedition Sirius 2000”, which was a four-month and 2795 kilometer long sledge expedition north of Greenland.
