    • The picture shows the family of five relaxing on a meadow – posted with the words “We are celebrating 15 years of marriage”.
    • The two got married on April 29, 2011 in Westminster Abbey in front of around two billion TV viewers worldwide.

Share on their 15th wedding anniversary Princess Kate (44) and Prince William (43) a sweet family photo on social media. The picture was taken during the royals’ Easter holidays in Cornwall earlier this month.

The family of five lies on a meadow and enjoys the rays of sunshine. “Celebrating 15 years of marriage,” the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote about the picture, followed by a red heart emoji.

Everyone except Kate is wearing shorts in the picture. Prince Louis (8) has his legs over his mother. Sitting next to William on the grass are her black cocker spaniel, Orla, and her brown dog of the same breed.

Kate and William went through several breakups

The story of William and Kate has a lot of romance as well as a lot of drama. The two met in the early 2000s as students at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and finally tied the knot almost a decade later, on April 29, 2011. However, before the two said “I do,” they had to go through two breakups: in 2005 and again in 2007.

The 2007 separation is said to have been the more serious of the two. William and Kate were 24 years old at the time, and the current heir to the throne is said to have separated from his girlfriend over the phone. They then both plunged into London’s nightlife. According to “The Mirror”, William stood on a table in a club and shouted: “I’m free!” Meanwhile, Kate went out with her sister Pippa (42). The duo was “invited to almost every top party and the most exclusive nightclubs,” it is said.

How do you deal with difficult times in a relationship?

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson: “Don’t say anything, do nothing”

And that’s exactly what apparently brought Kate back together with her prince in the end. On one of these party nights she apparently met the woman who was supposed to save her and William. According to “The Sun”, Kate met the then It girl Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (1971 to 2017), whose family is close friends with the royals. The two women began a conversation.

“Do you want him back?” Palmer-Tomkinson is said to have asked Kate. She then allegedly explained that she still loved William despite their separation. “Keep your head up,” Palmer-Tomkinson advised her, according to the British tabloid. “Don’t say anything, don’t do anything, then everything will be fine and he will come back.” The advice probably had an effect. William and Kate got back together a few months later.

In her engagement interview on November 16, 2010, Kate said of the split: “I don’t think I was particularly happy about it at the time, but actually it made me a stronger person.” She added: “You discover things about yourself that you may not have noticed before. You can get pretty caught up in a relationship when you’re younger, and I really appreciated that time for myself, even though I didn’t see it that way at the time.”

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson is said to have reunited Kate and William.

William was convinced by the Queen herself

But not only Kate, William is also said to have received well-intentioned advice during the separation phase in 2007 – and from the highest levels. In the book “William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story” by Russell Myers, the royal expert for the “Mirror”, he revealed, according to the newspaper: William is said to have ended the relationship after his girlfriend gave him an ultimatum: either he would commit to their future together or she would leave him.

Queen Elizabeth II (1926 to 2022) herself then played a key role in bringing the two back together, the book says. She is said to have told her grandson William to believe in his relationship. At a private meeting, she urged him to follow his heart and marry Kate. The rest is history: The wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton took place on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. 1900 invited guests were there. Around two billion people worldwide are said to have watched the wedding on TV.
