It is not known why the 65-year-old driver of a car with Rijeka license plates drove into the opposite lane yesterday in broad daylight on the state road DC102 near Njivic, where he crashed into two passenger cars with Slovenian license plates.
The Primorsko-Goranska Police Department says that in addition to the 65-year-old man who, unfortunately, died at the scene of the collision, two other people were injured in that accident.
The police investigation established that the accident occurred around 2:15 p.m., when the 65-year-old man made a slight left turn and crossed into the traffic lane for vehicles coming from the opposite direction, where he hit two vehicles with Slovenian license plates.
– The driver of the car died at the scene. Slovenian citizens aged 22 and 48 were injured in the aforementioned incident. They were given medical help at KBC Rijeka, and they were diagnosed with minor and serious physical injuries. The investigation was conducted by the deputy of the County State Attorney’s Office in Rijeka, and the body of the deceased was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Criminalistics of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka for an autopsy – say the police, who kept the said section closed to traffic for two and a half hours.
