ordan and Indonesia will aim to strengthen bilateral relations built on existing cooperation across multiple sectors, top officials from both countries have said.
Sudqi Attalah Al Omoush, Jordan’s ambassador to Jakarta, said the two countries share a relationship grounded in mutual respect and a common vision for peace and justice, standing together in multilateral forums to champion human solidarity, uphold international law and promote multilateralism.
“The exchange of visits by heads of state and officials has announced a new, revitalized era of cooperation,” he said during a diplomatic reception on Tuesday commemorating the 80th anniversary of Jordan’s Independence Day.
“Jordan and Indonesia have strengthened cooperation in higher education, culture, trade, health, infrastructure, energy and logistics, striding together toward utilizing economic partnership and advancing bilateral sectoral cooperation.”
Sudqi said both countries commemorated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. Diplomatic relations began in 1951 through the recognition of chargés d’affaires from both countries in Iraq.
The Hashemite Kingdom declared its independence on May 25, 1946, when the then Emirate of Transjordan’s parliament ratified a treaty with the British government recognizing the state’s independence. The emirate’s status was also raised to be the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
“On the 25th of May 1946, Jordan took its prideful place among the sovereign and independent nations of the world,” Sudqi said.
