The Italian embassy in Dominican Republic celebrated the Festival of that country with a reception at the Colonial City, space where music, culture and diplomacy came together to commemorate such an important date.
The evening was headed by the Italian ambassador accredited to Dominican territory, SErgium Maffettone, who highlighted the strength of bilateral relations and the deep historical ties that unite both nations.
He also highlighted the contribution of generations of Italians and Italian descendants to the cultural, economic and social development of the Dominican Republic.
In his speech, the diplomat highlighted the importance of human ties between both countries, referring to the Dominican community residing in Italy, one of the most numerous of Europeas well as the active Italian community established in Dominican territory, whose participation contributes significantly to the development of various productive sectors.
Likewise, he highlighted the growth of economic relations between both nations, pointing out that Italian foreign direct investment in Dominican Republic reached in 2025 the record figure of 371 million dollars.
Likewise, he appreciated the announcement made by ITA Airways on the opening of a direct air route between Rome and Santo Domingo, planned to begin operations in November 2026strengthening the connectivity and sharing between both countries.

On behalf of the dominican government the vice minister of Bilateral Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Caraballo, who highlighted the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Italy and the Dominican Republic, as well as the role of Italy as a strategic partner in national development.
After the formal ceremony, the guests enjoyed an artistic proposal starring the violinist Olen Cesarithe pianist Michel Rodi and the singer Fabia Salvucciwho offered a musical tour that highlighted the richness italian cultural and captivated the attendees.
The celebration also included an experience gastronomy inspired by Italian culinary traditionprepared by chef Cosimo Urso, complementing an evening marked by cultural exchange and the strengthening of the ties of friendship between both nations.
