At least eight people were killed Tuesday when Israeli airstrikes hit the southern Lebanese city of Tyre. The attack came just one day after Israel and Iran agreed to pause direct attacks following a request from U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE! Final negotiations on “Peace” are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday.

Iran has warned it will resume fighting if Israel continues targeting Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group that Iran backs and funds. Israel has refused to halt that campaign, insisting the Lebanon conflict is separate from any ceasefire arrangement with the U.S. and Iran.
Meanwhile, in the Gulf, two U.S. Army helicopter crew members were rescued after their Apache gunship went down near the Strait of Hormuz. A U.S. Navy drone located and rescued the pair within roughly two hours.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz…the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”
Iran has been blocking most shipping through the strait since the war began, with the United States imposing its own blockade on Iranian ports in response. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright warns that ship traffic through the strait is increasing, but it could take many months to return to normal once the war ends.
