Alarm bells have been ringing for years and experts are warning about the aging of Iran’s society. Reports indicate that the growth rate of Iran’s population has decreased in an unprecedented way, so that this rate has even reached below half a percent in some areas; Therefore, it can be said that Iran is experiencing one of the fastest trends of population aging; An issue that indicates time limitations and lost opportunities in the near future. Dr. Fatemeh Mohammad Beigi, a member of the Health Commission of the Islamic Parliament and a member of the parliament observer at the National Population Headquarters, told JamJam in this regard: “As the 60s enter middle age and old age, Iran will face the phenomenon of aging at a rate three times the world average from 1420. It is expected that the country’s population will decrease by half in these years. “This trend leads to a drastic reduction of mothers in reproductive age and limits future opportunities for compensation.” It is for this reason that experts in the field of population emphasize that a strategic leap in the field of population should take place in the coming years and in the current population window.
The importance of population in national authority
Mohammad Beigi believes that in all countries, population is one of the key components of national authority, labor force, economic growth, scientific and technological development, and countries with more population move toward authority and peace. The observer member of the parliament in the national headquarters of the Jamiat says: “The leader of the revolution emphasized in his message that the parliament should be at the level of the Iranian nation, and it should be a prelude for the transformation and strategic leap of the people. “Strategic leaps can come from the campaign of millions of sacrifices that people have registered.” He adds: “The population of 31,500,000 Iranian martyrs are ready to help their country in all matters. One of these issues is the population, and increasing the number of marriages, having children, raising children, and training the future-making force is necessary for an advanced and strong Iran. So, naturally, we should be able to change the components of society with a jihad in having children in these difficult conditions.” If it is otherwise, there is no doubt that since 1420, we will seriously enter the phenomenon of aging at a rate three times the global average.
The relationship between population and identity
Experts warn that increasing the birth rate is a completely strategic and identity issue, and if there is no change in the design of structures and support, naturally, the future of Iran will be a future that will collapse without the slightest external economic and political threat. In this case, Iran will lag behind the civilization and achievements that have shone in it, especially in recent days. The most important issue in the discussion of population is the issue of identity, because if the youth of the population is not realized, the country that has a population crisis will disappear. Meanwhile, Iran is a very broad concept that includes civilization, epics, geniuses, great people, history and geography. Therefore, with the destruction of the population, all these dimensions will collapse; Like a building that has been weakened by an earthquake and collapses on its inhabitants with the slightest impulse. It is necessary to remember that some people and officials consider solving the population problem to be a political matter, but the population definitely has a security dimension, but the main problem is the identity dimension, which will be damaged if it is not paid attention to.
Solutions for the jump
In the meantime, experts believe that encouraging young people to get married and more importantly, facilitating the conditions for this segment of the society, is one of the most basic solutions that can shoulder a little of the burden of demographic jumps. Considering the existence of 14 million girls and boys of marriageable age, it is necessary to facilitate the marriage process and form stable and strong families. “On the other hand, the promotion of childbearing should not be ignored,” Dr. Mohammad Beigi notes. It is important to reduce the average time interval of 4.9 years between marriage and the first child and the necessary training in this field. In the meantime, we should not neglect the strict implementation of the laws on the youth of the population.” A member of the Health and Medical Commission of the Islamic Parliament believes that in order to promote childbearing, it is better to focus on families that have one or two or more children, because families with children tend to increase the number of children due to having stable jobs and housing.
