According to Razai, there are only two ways to open the Strait, and both require full recognition of Iran’s supremacy in the region. The Fars news agency, which is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, reports a sharp escalation in the Strait of Hormuz area. According to the report, two missiles were launched and hit a US Navy patrol ship, which led to its withdrawal from the area.
Tehran claims that its forces prevented the entry of additional American warships into the strait, adding that 15 of the crew members of the ship “Tosca” entered the country’s territory. Iranian opposition sources report intense sounds of machine gun fire heard in the area of the strait.
The economic consequences of the event were immediate – Brent oil prices and US crude oil futures (WTI) jumped by about 4% immediately after the reports of the Iranian attack were published.
