Isaías Fretes, president of the IPS, presented to the Board of Directors this morning the request for a technical report on the status of the medical equipment and its bidding process. He asked to establish a kind of “traffic light” to highlight the most urgent needs.
At the live-streamed meeting of the Council of the Social Security Institute (IPS), The president put the problem of medical equipment and maintenance on the table. He highlighted that “the institution is not doing well financially” and precisely for this reason it is necessary “to be very strict” in the maintenance processes to avoid breakdowns.

Regarding the topic, he listened to the arguments of the IPS advisors, about the work done by the building maintenance team and the problems with machines that were recently purchased without having the necessary capacity for the high demand of the IPS.
What should the report have?
“The issue is why equipment is purchased that does not have the technical parameters consistent with a high-demand hospital. That is because traumatologists and radiologists are not given participation.“, he stated.

For this reason, he requested that a request for reports be sent to the corresponding addresses. “about what was tendered, what was purchased and finally what was brought.”
Furthermore, in response to the comment of another of the counselors about the deficiencies of the teams, he also added the importance of the reports of the teams that were deficient.
“That is very important, this is a very nice opportunity to find out about that,” considered the president of the pension.
In this context, he asked that the report detail “what is in red, what is in yellow and what is green,” to know the most urgent needs.
