“Summary” (AKIpress) – There are complaints from political prisoners who did not kill or rape, but were imprisoned for likes (on social networks), a deputy said on October 14 Seidbek Atambaev at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Ombudsman Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva presented to parliament a report “On the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2025.”
The deputy said that if people are convicted under Article 278 (Mass riots), Article 89 (Non-application of parole from serving a sentence) applies to them. According to him, these are two different articles and there are complaints about this.
Atambayev further reported that in women’s colony No. 2 in the village of Stepnoe there is a convict, Shakhreniso Sharbatova, who, for health reasons, cannot move independently and is in dire need of a wheelchair. He added that the woman walks on two hands and asked to consider her question.
In his opinion, the women’s colony needed a globe and a printer. He addressed the employees of the State Penitentiary Service and said that some internal regulations in correctional institutions are overly strict, and this issue requires additional consideration.
