Miami/The figure and legacy of José Martí serve as inspiration to I dream of Martí in the Alamedaa one-act ballet that will be presented at Miami Dade College’s Lehman Theater as part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. The day will last between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm and combines the evocation of Martí with dance and performing arts.
The proposal has a marked historical and symbolic setting. The activity is promoted by the Apogeo Foundation for Global Public Art, a Miami organization linked for years to the promotion of the performing arts and particularly ballet. Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs and Miami Dade College North Campus also appear as participants or collaborators in the call. Apogeo’s career includes a continued presence in the dissemination and criticism of classical dance in South Florida.
The stage will be the Lehman Theater, located within the North Campus of Miami Dade College. The venue is located at 11380 NW 27th Ave., in Miami, and regularly hosts shows, concerts, and cultural and academic activities of the institution.
