Lovell Pays Tribute to Antigua and Barbuda’s Only Male Centenarian
Former UPP leader Harold Lovell has expressed sadness at the passing of Denzil O’Brien Cummins, Antigua and Barbuda’s only male centenarian, describing him as a man whose life reflected faith, resilience, and service.
Lovell recalled visiting Cummins on his 101st birthday last September, saying it was a privilege to celebrate a life that spanned more than a century.
He also noted that Cummins had been honoured during Centenarian Week only days before his death, calling it a fitting tribute to “a remarkable son of Sea View Farm and our nation.”
“I will always cherish the warmth of his smile and the opportunity to spend time with him,” Lovell said.
He extended condolences to Cummins’ family, friends, and the Sea View Farm community, urging the nation to honour his legacy by embracing the values of perseverance, humility, and community that he exemplified.
“May the soul of Mr. Denzil O’Brien Cummins rest in eternal peace,” Lovell said.
