Hall Contracting has completed the 1.81 km Ebeye seawall in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
According to Hall, the new seawall provides an important line of defense for the densely populated island, helping protect homes, roads and critical infrastructure from coastal erosion, inundation and the increasing impacts of climate change.
The project also included construction of a 1.81 km footpath along the back of the seawall, providing a new public amenity for the Ebeye community.
“Delivering the project was a major logistical undertaking, with around 84,000 tons of armor rock and fill transported to the remote island, along with significant plant, equipment and construction materials,” Hall said.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the seawall’s completion was attended by Hilda Heine, the President of the Marshall Islands.
