Georgetown man charged with illegal gun and ammo possession

A Georgetown man, granted bail in his first court appearance, has maintained his not guilty plea on charges that he allegedly illegally possessed a gun and eight rounds of ammunition during the 2026 carnival festivities.

Devorn Baptiste, 35, who was on bail in the sum of $15,000 appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Tammika Mckenzie on July 8, 2026 where he was charged that on July 4, 2026 at Arnos Vale he illegally possessed one nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol, make and serial number unknown, without a license issued under the Firearms Act.
