The Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) has renewed part of its leadership following its Annual General Meeting on August 22, 2026. DCA Public Relations Officer Peter Letang described the meeting as an important milestone for the future of calypso, with members receiving the Treasurer’s and President’s reports before voting to fill four vacancies on the association’s nine-member executive.
The vacancies arose following the resignations of Chester “Daddy Chess” Letang, Jerry “Oracle” Lloyd, Andy “Andy” Carter and Keith “Tronada” Hurtault, while Augustus “Liberator” St. Louis’ term on the executive came to an end.
Seven candidates contested the available positions, with Marsha Dangleben polling 25 votes, Jarnillia “Mika” Phillip 23, Daniel “Danian” Theodore 20, and Steve “Triumph” Williams nine.
Shirvon “Vigilante” Vigilante received eight votes, while Jerry “Hexi” Williams and Wilfred “Intruder” Peltier each secured five votes. The results saw Dangleben, Mika, Danian and Triumph elected as the four new executive members.
The newly constituted executive is expected to begin work immediately, with its first meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
Letang said the meeting will be used to determine the respective positions and responsibilities of the executive members, as the association gets down to business in preparation for the 2027 calypso season.
