The Dushanbe City Court sentenced five former officials of the Dushanbe International Airport, who, together with the former chairman of the airport, Ismatullo Abdullozoda, were suspected of embezzling 1 billion 245 million somoni, which is equivalent to more than one hundred million dollars.
About this Radio Ozodi reportedwriting that the verdict of the Dushanbe City Court against Asliddin Malikzoda, Mukhriddin Davlatov, Parviz Ismatulloev, Tagoimurod Juraev and Mukim Kholov, former airport officials, was handed down on January 30. After paying a fine they were released.
They, according to the source, were found guilty of “embezzlement, embezzlement on an especially large scale, forgery and transfer to another person of a document and a state award.” They were sentenced to fines:
– Asliddin Malikzoda, former deputy chairman of the airport – 138 thousand 750 somoni;
– Mukhriddin Davlatov, former head of the airport supply and maintenance service – 165 thousand somoni;
– Tagoimurod Jurazoda, former airport treasurer – 157 thousand 500 somoni;
– Parviz Ismatullozod, former chief accountant of the airport – 187 thousand 500 somoni;
– Mukim Kholov, former airport warehouse manager – 150 thousand somoni.
The court deprived four people, with the exception of Asliddin Malikzoda, of the right to hold any position for a period of three years.
The Dushanbe City Court, in a response to Radio Ozodi, stated that “the damage caused to the state by the convicts was fully compensated, and five former officials of the Dushanbe airport did not appeal the court’s verdict.”
Former officials of Dushanbe International Airport in May 2025, together with their leader Ismatullo Abdullozoda, were relieved of their positions and detained due to the identification of serious shortcomings in their activities during a financial audit.
They were suspected of misappropriating 1 billion 245 million somoni of airport funds through “one-day companies.” Ismatullo Abdullozoda alone was suspected of embezzling 961 million somoni, which is equivalent to almost 100 million dollars.
However, all the suspects, four months later, having paid part of the damage, were released from the detention center on their own recognizance.
The case of former Dushanbe airport officials, including Ismatullo Abdullozoda, has sparked a heated debate in society and social networks about large-scale corruption in Tajikistan.
