BINTULU (May 4): Members of a diverse society must engage in constructive discussions whenever disa-greements arise.
In giving this advice, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing also empha-sised the importance of managing differences wisely when they involved people from different backgrounds.
“What matters most is that we continue to respect one another.
“Our nation is built on diversity, and that strength can only endure if we safeguard it together,” said the Bintulu MP in a Facebook post, uploaded in connection with him attending a ‘Pre-Gawai and Kaamatan 2026 Dinner’ with the community of Seri Kembangan Borneo Cultural Market Association on Sunday.
Adding on, he also said Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity must continue to be preserved and shared as a foundation for unity and mutual understanding.
In this regard, he hailed the Borneo Cultural Market as a significant platform for culture and traditions to not only be showcased, but also appreciated across communities.
“It is also a bridge that brings people of diverse backgrounds closer together.
“It is a space where the identity, heritage and cultures of Sabah and Sarawak continue to thrive and be shared with all Malaysians.”
Tiong also pointed out that such initiative could provide opportunities for small traders and local artisans, while strengthening community ties.
“We must carry forward the spirit of mutual respect, appreciate our own cultures while under-standing others.
“From there, lasting harmony can be achieved,” he added.
