This Friday night they released the five detained people who were detained during the workers’ march that tried to reach the Miraflores Palace last Thursday.
The lawyer and human rights activist. Eduardo Torres confirmed the release this Saturday through a message he published on his X account.
Among those released are César Gómez, Adrián Balza, Tonny Zapata and Ort Betancourt.
Gonzalo Himiob, vice president of Foro Penal, informed the EFE agency that Betancourt, 21 years old and municipal youth leader of Primero Justicia, was released at 8:00 pm this Friday.
Both Betancourt and the others who were released will have to appear in court on Monday to corroborate whether any measure was imposed on them, Himiob said.
These people were arrested during the peaceful protest called by workers, retirees and students to demand salary improvements, after more than four years without an increase in the basic salary.
The march was destined to reach the Palace of the Executive Branch, which was prevented by the Bolivarian National Police, which deployed a strong device that ended with protesters being attacked and these five detained.
This demonstration took place one day after the interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, made a speech on the national network in which she announced that on May 1 there will be a “responsible” increase in salary income, without specifying the amount.
Union leaders and union members called for a new protest next Thursday, April 16 in front of the United States embassy in Caracas.
