Muscat: As part of efforts to enhance and expand vehicle technical inspection services, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has completed the accreditation procedures for the Sultanate of Oman’s first private vehicle technical inspection station.
The facility will be inaugurated next Tuesday (June 16) at the premises of the Oman Automobile Association, in implementation of Decision No. 88/2024 issued by the Inspector General of Police and Customs regarding regulations governing vehicle technical inspection services.
The move is aimed at increasing private sector participation in the delivery of public services, while expanding the availability of vehicle inspection facilities across the country.
It will also provide motorists with greater flexibility by offering inspection services at different times and through additional service providers.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve service efficiency, enhance customer convenience and support partnerships between government institutions and the private sector. By accrediting private inspection stations, the ROP seeks to reduce waiting times, improve accessibility and ensure that vehicle safety standards continue to be maintained in accordance with approved regulations.
The opening of the first private inspection centre marks a significant step in the modernization of vehicle inspection services and is expected to pave the way for additional accredited centres in the future.
