There were more than 300,000 unemployed people in Finland last month, which is around 30,000 more than a year earlier.
Finland’s unemployment rate deteriorated again during March after showing slight signs of recovery in the early months of this year.
According to Statistics Finland’s latest labour force survey, there were 315,000 unemployed people aged 15–74 in Finland in March, up by 30,000 compared to the same month in 2025.
Last month also saw a year-on-year drop in the number of employed people, which fell by 22,000 to a total of 2,524,000.
Unemployment remained higher among men than women, as the agency noted that 169,000 of the unemployed people were men, compared with 146,000 women.
The latest figures mean that the unemployment rate trend was 10.4 percent in March, a nominal change from the rate earlier this year but a very slight improvement on the rate of 10.7 reported at the end of last year.
The number of people aged 15–74 outside the labour force totalled 1,334,000 in March, unchanged from a year earlier.
