MOSCOW – Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is among only a few world leaders who will attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9, Russian state television reported.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will also be in Moscow for the May 9 parade.
The military parade is the highlight of the Russian calendar, marking the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the Second World War, a conflict in which it lost 27 million people.
The Kremlin announced earlier that this year the parade will be somewhat reduced without the usual large display of weapons. /end/dd
