Finnish food group Fazer has agreed to acquire Swedish confectionery producer Konfektyrfabriken Aroma AB in a move to expand its position in the Nordic sweets market and increase its presence in Sweden.
Fazer said the deal forms part of its growth strategy and will strengthen its position in loose sweets, bagged products, and seasonal confectionery in Sweden. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals in Sweden.
Aroma, founded in 1921, produces a range of traditional Swedish sweets and employs about 100 people. The company operates three factories in Stockholm, Eskilstuna, and Bengtsfors, with its headquarters in Stockholm. Its revenue reached about 451 million Swedish kronor in 2025.
The company is known for products such as Geléhallon, Hallonbåtar, Röda Hjärtan, and Gräddkola, which hold a place in the Swedish confectionery market. Aroma has built its position through production methods linked to long-standing practices in the sector.
Fazer said Aroma will join its Candy business unit after completion of the deal. The group stated that the acquisition will combine Aroma’s production with its own brands and commercial operations.
Christoph Vitzthum, chief executive of Fazer, said the acquisition supports the group’s plans for international growth. “This acquisition supports our confectionery business growth strategy and strengthens our position in the Nordic loose sweets market and in Sweden,” he said in a statement.
The Swedish Competition Authority and the Inspectorate of Strategic Products in Sweden must still approve the transaction.
