The family of veteran educator Sebastian Cayetano, a respected member of the St Martin’s community, is appealing to the public for financial assistance as he faces health complications.
Isani Cayetano, his son, says his father was diagnosed with an enlarged heart about five years ago. More recently, he was hospitalised after becoming ill, and further medical evaluations revealed that his kidneys were failing, adding strain to his heart.
“We were all prepared for him to come back home,” he said. “Sometime around eight, everything just took a turn for the worse.”
Sebastian Cayetano has spent years serving Belize through his work as an educator and his involvement in the community. He has taught thousands of students throughout his career and is also known for his involvement with the Garifuna Museum and his longstanding presence at St. Martin’s Parish.
The family is asking anyone who knows Sebastian or has been impacted by his work to consider helping during this difficult time.
A fundraising campaign has been launched, and the family is also accepting assistance in other forms. “If there’s anything that we can do at this point in time to help him, it would be greatly appreciated,” Isani said.
Anyone wishing to assist can contact Isani at 670-7158 or make a donation to Sebastian Cayetano’s Belize Bank account, number 105440010170025.
