Since the early hours of the morning, dozens of police officers have been stationed on Máximo Gómez Avenue and 27 de Febrero Avenue, which has caught the attention of drivers and passers-by, especially because traffic has been affected.
This is due to an eviction in the square known as Teleoffers, in which police officers accompany bailiffs who execute an eviction order, which is reported to be supported by a ruling from the Supreme Court of Justice.
The large police deployment extends to the surroundings of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the Miraflores sector and surrounding streets.
The police are equipped with canine units (K9) and a riot truck.
Eviction in Teleoffers
The operation maintains congestion in traffic in an east-west direction, on the elevated 27th to the entrance of the overpass on 27 Febrero Avenue with Máximo Gómez. This is because there is a section from Paseo de los Periodistas street to Máximo Gómez avenue that is closed, in that lane.
Johnny Marte popularized teleoffers
The Teleofertas plaza became popular because the well-known sportsman Johnny Marte maintained a sales program on television for more than three decades. Mars passed away on June 24, 2023.
There are several businesses on site, including a bar (Olympic terrace), food sales, car wash, answer shop, lottery bank, among others.
