“Summary” (AKIpress) – On April 23, the Chui regional court made a decision against the former president of the Kyrgyzstan Federation Begaliev Talas Kubanychbekovichthe press service of the regional court told the editors of AKIpress Summary.
He was found guilty of:
– Article 208 Part 4 (“Extortion”) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic;
– Article 262 part 2 (“Participation in a criminal community”);
– Article 263, part 1 (“Financing of an organized group and a criminal community, that is, the provision or collection of funds, objects, substances and (or) other property, the provision of rights to property or benefits of a property nature, as well as donations, barter, donations, charitable assistance, the provision of information and other types of services, or the provision of financial services to an individual, or a group of individuals, or a legal entity”;
– Article 222, Part 2, Clause 2 (“Legalization (laundering) of criminal proceeds by a group of persons by prior conspiracy”) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
He was sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was taken into custody in the courtroom.
On May 19, 2025, the press service of the State Committee for National Security disseminated information about detention of Begaliev and two other men. The materials stated that Begaliev, holding senior positions in the police, was an okul ata of the criminal authority Chyngyz Dzhumagulov, known by the nickname “Dөө-Chyngyz” (killed in 2022 in pre-trial detention center-1).
According to the State Committee for National Security, Begaliev, in collusion with the leaders of an organized crime group, took away land plots with a total area of 2 hectares worth $2 million, located in the village of Kara-Zhygach, Alamedinsky district, from two citizens. Subsequently, as noted by the State Committee for National Security, this land was re-registered in the name of Begaliev’s relatives.
