The enabled spaces are in the LRetirement Home, the Escaldes-Engordany Art Center (CAEE), the Caldes Space, the Municipal Library, La Llanterna, the Youth Space and the Common House Procedures Service. In all these facilities, a heated area with seats has been reserved so that people who need it can rest, recover from the heat and have water.
Consul General, Rose Gilihighlighted that episodes of intense heat are becoming more frequent and emphasized the importance of administrations offering resources to prevent their effects. In this regard, he pointed out that these climate shelters want to ensure that anyone who needs it has a comfortable space to rest and hydrate.
The measure has particular relevance for the elderly, children, people with chronic illnesses and, in general, anyone particularly vulnerable to high temperatures. The common also reminds that citizens have the bus service on demand, an alternative designed to facilitate travel, especially for people with greater mobility difficulties. It also calls for following the recommendations of Civil Protection, how to maintain good hydration, avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours and use climate shelters whenever necessary.
