Eang Sophalleth, Minister of the Ministry of Environment, has urged factories and enterprises to strengthen proper management of waste and solid waste, particularly plastic waste, in order to enhance sanitation, environmental aesthetics, and public health, while supporting the vision of a clean and sustainable Cambodia.
The remarks were made during his inspection of production operations and environmental standard implementation at the D’Luxe International bag manufacturing factory in Chaom Chau commune, Por Senchey district, Phnom Penh, today.
During the visit, he encouraged the company to further improve the management and storage of waste and solid waste by strengthening cooperation with service providers and civil society organisations working in environmental protection. Such collaboration would help ensure that waste from factories is collected regularly and on time, contributing to cleanliness within industrial facilities.

He also praised the factory for properly implementing environmental technical standards, creating a comfortable working environment, and complying with Cambodia’s legal and regulatory frameworks. He noted that products manufactured in Cambodia have increasingly met international standards.
In addition, he highlighted the importance of cooperation between the ministry and factories to promote greener industrial practices. He encouraged the consideration of renewable energy sources, such as biomass produced from King Grass, which can be used as fuel for boilers.
Furthermore, he urged factory owners and enterprises to install rooftop solar energy systems as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote green energy development in Cambodia.
Through the visit, Sophalleth encouraged companies and factories to continue maintaining high environmental standards, particularly in properly managing solid and liquid waste, in order to promote cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and green development across the country.
