SpaceXthe aerospace bet of Elon Muskannounced this Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with the emerging company of artificial intelligence Cursorwith the possibility of buying it at the end of the year for about 60 billion dollars.
In a message on their X account, Musk’s company confirmed that they have established a “close collaboration” with Cursor “to create the best AI of the world”.
The deal announced today gives SpaceX the option to acquire Cursor later this year for $60 billion, or pay 10 billion for the work done jointly, Musk’s company explained.
With the alliance it is expected that composerthe Cursor encoding model, is compatible with the Colossus supercomputer from SpaceX, which will boost the AI race in the sector.
The CEO of Cursor, Michael Truellwrote in a post on X that he is “excited to partner with the SpaceX team to scale Composer”; In addition, he called the agreement “a significant step” in AI programming.
Cursor has come under pressure in recent months after OpenAI and Anthropic announced rival products for writing code, which were adopted by various technology companies, according to reports The New York Times.
It is not clear whether the companies plan to formalize the operation before or after SpaceX’s IPO.
