DATUM’s quick count also includes results for some of the country’s main cities. In these cases it is the municipal election corresponding to each constituency.
In regional elections, citizens vote for a board made up of a candidate for governor and another for vice-governor. Unlike municipal elections, the regional formula needs to reach at least 30% of valid votes to avoid a second election.
The National Elections Jury (JNE) established the November 29, 2026 as a date for an eventual second regional election. This will be carried out in those regions where no formula reaches the minimum established by electoral legislation.
Therefore, Datum’s exit result will allow us to identify not only which candidacy appears first, but also those regions where a second round could take place.
Quick counting is a statistical procedure that allows obtaining a early estimation of election results before processing of all records is completed.
To do this, a sample of minutes selected under statistical criteria is used. The results obtained in this sample allow us to project the voting behavior in a given constituency.
For that reason, quick counting can provide a fairly close snapshot of the final result, although does not replace the official ONPE calculation.
Datum quick count and ONPE results serve different functions.
The first is a statistical estimation prepared from a sample of minutes. The ONPE, on the other hand, carries out the official processing of the electoral records and progressively publishes the results as they are counted.
Therefore, the percentages of the quick count may present differences with respect to the official results that are known later.
In an election with very close results, even a small difference between two candidates can be decisive. In those cases, it will be necessary to wait for the official count to progress to determine the winner.
Yes. There could be approximately 14 second rounds, according to preliminary exit results.
However, the result of the quick count will also be relevant to identifying regions where a second election could occur.
In regional elections, if no formula reaches the percentage established by electoral legislation to be proclaimed in the first round, the candidates who obtain the first two votes must face each other in a second election.
Therefore, in addition to identifying which candidate appears first in each region, it will be important to observe what percentage you get and how close you are to the threshold required to avoid a second round.
