Each year in September Suicide Awareness month, USAG-KA Staff, Family Members, and Mission Partners step out into the darkness to shine some light on suicide during the Suicide Awareness Ruck which spans roughly 6 miles around the island. Along the way the teammates pitstop at various stops to regroup, refill water and listen to a chosen individual that shares from personal experience or provides valuable information on how to help someone thinking of suicide.
Looking for signs from co-workers, family, or friends can sometimes be challenging. Having the courage to approach them and ask if they need help or if they are thinking of harming themselves may be difficult but may just save a loved one’s life. Photos by Sherman Hogue USAG-KA PAO
