Drove in the opposite direction under the influence of alcohol and drugs
The Koper police department announced that yesterday at 6:33 p.m. they received a notification about the dangerous behavior of a driver on Šmarska cesta. The driver of the car was driving towards Dragonja on the opposite carriageway, thereby directly endangering other road users. They had to give way to avoid a head-on collision.
The police soon tracked down the offender and found that he was a 51-year-old man from Ljubljana. A breathalyzer test showed 0.49 mg/l of alcohol in breath, and a rapid drug test was also positive, detecting the presence of cocaine and methamphetamines.
The police ordered a professional examination of the driver at the Izola General Hospital. They are currently investigating the suspicion of committing the crime of dangerous driving in road traffic, and they will inform the competent prosecutor’s office about the findings.
