The body of a woman found along the North Coast Road in Maracas on April 1 has been identified as Diego Martin resident and businesswoman Onika Locario.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park on Wednesday confirmed that Locario died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. The findings indicate she was beaten prior to her death.
Her body was discovered along the Maracas stretch at approximately 10.44 p.m. on April 1.
Police said responding officers found the woman lying face down on the roadway near an agro shop. At the time of the initial discovery, she was clad in a black skirt, brown cardigan and cream-coloured footwear, and bore a tattoo on her left forearm.
Officers also reported that the woman appeared to be foaming from the mouth and nose area. However, no visible marks of violence were initially observed at the scene.
The scene was processed by officers including Insp Perry, Sgt Panchu and PC Mohammed, along with personnel from the Homicide Bureau Region One, led by Ag Cpl Nunez, with PC Romance and PC Scantlebury assisting in the investigation.
Investigators believe Locario was assaulted at another location by someone known to her before her body was transported and dumped along the North Coast Road.
A post-mortem has since confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.
Locario has been identified as a 30-year-old entrepreneur and owner of Luxe Creations TT, a business specialising in customized event packages.
