After his applauded time at Cannes, the Mexican filmmaker arrives at the San Sebastián Festival with Ceniza en la boca, his fifth feature film as a director, which competes in the Horizontes Latinos section. Based on the novel of the same name by Brenda Navarro, the film addresses themes that have been recurring in the director’s filmography: absence, grief, uprooting, care and migration.
If Diego Luna isn’t saving the universe in the flesh of Cassian Andor, he’s probably building another character, producing a movie, or preparing a new project behind the camera.
This time the Mexican actor, producer and director is in front of a cup of coffee and a bottle of water in the Basque city of San Sebastián. He is busy presenting and talking about his most recent adventure behind the cameras, Ash in the mouth.
