SAN MARINO – A new housing model that combines private spaces and shared services, with the aim of promoting access to the home and combating loneliness. Co-housing will be at the center of the public evening scheduled for Monday 21 September at 8.30 pm at the Sala Ex International in Borgo Maggiore.
The meeting, promoted by the Secretariat of State for Territory and Environment, comes as the new Delegated Decree dedicated to co-housing, included in the framework of Law 87/2026 on Strategic Territorial Planning, is in the pipeline.
The model includes private homes flanked by spaces and services used in common by residents, such as kitchens, green areas, laundries and common rooms. A formula already tested in other European contexts which, according to the Secretariat, can offer answers both in terms of economic accessibility to housing and in terms of social relations, with particular attention to self-sufficient elderly people.
The new Delegated Decree should introduce, from its entry into force, simplified access criteria, incentives for operators interested in carrying out co-housing projects and provisions relating to cohabitation and the management of common spaces.
The evening will open with greetings and an introduction from the Secretary of State Matteo Ciacci. Speeches will follow Stefano Bassanby Co-housing Veneto, on the micro urban regeneration of collaborative living; Sylvia Colombini and Elia Cecchettiof Piudiunacasa, will present their vision of co-housing, while Carlo Renzini will explore this housing model as a tool for social and preventive geriatric medicine.
