SAN MARINO – The international project “Centenario Elena Teodorini 1926–2026” will start on Friday 25 September in Milan, promoted by the Romanian-Sammarinese Cultural Association Dacia Senza Frontiere and dedicated to the opera singer Elena Teodorinifirst Romanian opera artist to perform at the Teatro alla Scala in 1880.
The cultural route, created with the support of the Departamentul pentru Românii de Pretutindeni, will connect Italy, Romania and the Republic of San Marino through music, historical research, documentation, publishing and training.
The first stage is scheduled for September 25th at 4pm in the Hall of Honor of Casa Verdi in Milan. The day will include a photographic-documentary exhibition with materials from the Ricordi Historical Archive, a concert by the Nuova Polifonica Ambrosiana Choir, directed by Fabio Locatelli with Cecilia Ferreri on the piano, and a lyric recital by the sopranos Mihaela Anghel And Daniela Ciociea.
The volume “Elena Teodorini. A diva between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The first Romanian soprano at La Scala”, written by Ida Garzonio And Violeta Popescu and published by Rediviva Edizioni. The interventions include those of Maria Pia Ferrarisscientific consultant of the Ricordi Historical Archive, and of the same Violeta Popescu.
After Milan, the Centenary will move to San Marino from 7 to 11 October. For five days the Titano Theater will host masterclasses, conferences, editorial presentations, recitals, concerts and a gala concert, with artists, teachers, musicians and researchers from different countries.
Among the protagonists announced for the San Marino stage are Mihaela Anghel, Daniela Ciociea, Elina Velica, Rodica Vică, Sânziana Mircea, Antonio D’Abramo, Giannino Amore, Doina Dinu And Armando Calvia. The detailed program of events at the Titano Theater will be announced soon.
The initiative intends to recover and spread the figure of Elena Teodoriniborn in Craiova in 1857 and died in Bucharest in 1926, transforming the centenary of her death into an opportunity for cultural collaboration between Romania, Italy and San Marino.
