MANILA, Philippines — Still claiming the Senate presidency, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano issued an advisory on Tuesday detailing the work schedule for Senate employees ahead of Independence Day on June 12.
Senate employees will follow an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule when a holiday falls on a Friday.
In his advisory bearing the “Office of the Senate President” designation, Cayetano announced the revised work hours.
“In view of the upcoming Independence Day on Friday, June 12, 2026, please be reminded that… the Senate shall automatically implement the 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. working hours should a holiday falls on a Friday,” he wrote.

Since the change in Senate leadership on June 3, Cayetano has continuously assumed his role as Senate president.
He and his allies have also tagged Senate Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian’s leadership as “illegitimate.” /mcm
