After proclaiming the ANR candidates, Horacio Cartes reiterated his call for unity and asked to heal the wounds of the inmates heading into October.
The president of the National Republican Association (ANR), Horacio Carteshe once again focused his speech on the need for party unity during the proclamation act of the Colorado candidates for the municipal elections on October 4th. As after the internal elections on June 7, the Colorado leader avoided delving into internal differences and appealed to a message of reconciliation to face the electoral campaign.
Before the elected candidates and the party leadership, Cartes maintained that the internal ones have already fulfilled their function and that, from now on, the challenge is to work together to retain municipal power in the 263 districts of the country.

“There are no longer winners or losers”
During his speech, Cartes cited one of the most remembered phrases of the late Colorado leader Luis María Argaña: “He who won, did not win everything. And he who lost, did not lose everything”, to maintain that internal competitions must end with understanding and not with permanent divisions.
Along these lines, he stated that “the internal ones were left behind” and stressed that, from this moment, “There are no longer winners or losers.”“, but “a single party, a single cause and a single commitment to Paraguay.”
The head of the ANR also pointed out that the 5,927 candidates proclaimed become “heritage of the Colorado Party” and assured that everyone will receive the same support from the party leadership, regardless of the internal sector they come from.

Call to all leadership
Cartes called on sectional and conventional presidents, legislators, governors, mayors, councilors and grassroots leaders to actively accompany the candidates’ campaigns.
According to him, the objective is that the applicants “feel the strength of a party that walks alongside them” and that they have the necessary support to face the municipal elections in October.

A speech that is repeated after the internal
The message delivered this Monday maintains practically the same axis that Cartes had raised on June 7, after knowing the results of the municipal internal elections, when the Cartesian Camilo Perez He won the bid for the candidacy for the Mayor of Asunción.
On both occasions, the president of the Colorado Party prioritized a conciliatory tone and sought to convey an image of internal cohesion, despite the disputes left by the party elections in several districts of the country.
Although the speech emphasizes that “we are all List 1” and that there will be no differences between the internal sectors, the real challenge for the red leadership will be to convey that message of unity to the local leaderships, where in numerous municipalities the internal ones left political confrontations that will still have to be overcome before the elections on October 4.
Our sights are also set on 2028
At the end of his speech, Cartes expressed his confidence in a red victory in the municipal elections and maintained that the candidates emerging from the internal elections are prepared to govern the country’s municipalities.
However, he hinted that the unity strategy transcends the October contest by stating that the Colorado Party must face the electoral process “with great confidence towards 2028”, in reference to the next national electoral cycle.
