After defeating Allan Pollard for the PUP’s mayoral candidacy, Eluide Miller is extending an olive branch to his former rival and urging him to help keep Belize City under PUP control in March 2027. Miller insists the campaign was strictly political, never personal, and says the party must now come together. That call for unity will soon be tested, as Miller returns to work alongside Pollard and the other sitting councilors who lost their bids on Sunday. The question now is whether old rivals can put the bruising convention behind them and work as one team.

“I have maintained throughout my campaign that politics should never be personal. There is absolutely no contention between Councilor Pollard and I. I have explained this to him numerous times in the past. There remains absolutely no contention between us and I look forward to working side by side with him so that we can finish out this term strongly and we ensure success come March of 2020. I love my team. And I have shared this with he chairman and the national executive of this party that I think despite all that is said out there, this present Belize City Council is the most united Belize City Council we have ever had and my hope is that will remain the same leading up to March of next year. So I thank them for the service but also I ask them to stay engaged, councilor Pollard, Councilor Nunez, Councilor Javier Castellanos and anybody else, I ask them to stay engaged and work hand in hand with us so that we finish the term strongly.”
