The votes have been counted and the convention is over, but for Allan Pollard, the political fallout may just be beginning. Less than twenty-four hours after falling short in the race for the PUP’s Belize City mayoral candidacy, Pollard broke his silence with a candid social media post, describing Sunday’s convention and the weeks of campaigning before it as the toughest election battle he has ever faced. He thanked the three Area Representatives who backed him, saying they chose to stand with him despite pressure to follow the party’s established direction. Pollard also suggested the outcome carried a deeper message from the party, responding with two pointed words: “message received.” Tonight, we’re asking what comes next for the veteran councilor. Will he throw his support behind mayoral candidate Eluide Miller and help unite the party ahead of the 2027 municipal elections, or is an independent political path on the horizon? “Of course, we will do what we have to do to ensure the party is successful. That is it, that is the bottom line.”
