Caribbean Airlines transported 75,149 passengers between Trinidad and Tobago in August, as demand for travel between the islands remained strong during the peak summer season.
The figure represents an increase of more than 8,000 passengers compared with July, when the airline carried 66,814 passengers on the domestic airbridge.
The airline said the performance reflects its efforts to respond to increased demand by adding capacity in phases during the summer travel period.
Capacity was first increased in mid-July, followed by another increase at the beginning of August. Additional capacity was also made available for the Great Race weekend, when travel between Trinidad and Tobago typically rises.
Caribbean Airlines said the phased approach was intended to provide greater access to seats while supporting reliable connectivity between the two islands during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Chief Executive Officer (Ag.) Varma Khillawan said the airbridge plays an important role in the daily lives of people in both islands.
“The domestic airbridge is much more than a route network, it is a vital link that brings families together, supports businesses, enables access to essential services, and connects communities across Trinidad and Tobago,” Khillawan said.
He said the airline was pleased to have served more than 75,000 passengers in August.
“As demand continues to grow, Caribbean Airlines remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and convenient service, ensuring that our customers can travel with confidence whenever they need to move between the islands,” Khillawan said.
The August passenger figure comes as travel demand between Trinidad and Tobago continues to place pressure on the domestic airbridge, particularly during periods of increased movement associated with holidays, events and the summer vacation.
The airline said its capacity adjustments were aimed at matching available seats with demand, while maintaining connectivity between the two islands.
Caribbean Airlines thanked passengers for their continued support and said it remained committed to serving travellers using the domestic airbridge.
The airline’s August performance brings the combined number of passengers transported between Trinidad and Tobago in July and August to 141,963.
