The restaurant Brixton was opened in Reykjavík in the fall of 2024 with pomp and show. The place was widely discussed in the media and influencers were active in advertising the place on social media. For example, influencer Brynja Dan Gunnarsdóttir offered a small burger from Brixton when she turned 40 in September.
Originally, the owners of the place were Sigurður Gunnlaugsson, most often called Siggi Chef, Róbert Aron Magnússon, owner of the Street Bites Festival, Helgi Svavar Helgason, a drummer in Hjálm and Baggalúti, and Guðmundur Gunnarsson, who took care of Tómas’ hamburger bun in Berlin.
Ten months ago, Helgi Svavar and Guðmundur left the business.
Róbert Aron sold his share in the place on March 6, 2026. The buyers of Brixton are Jón Örn Jakobsson and Helgi Magnús Hermannsson.
The site’s website states that it is closed due to changes, but according to information from the Lögbirtingablaðin, the site has been taken into bankruptcy.
“Brixton has a new small burger concept, offering a fun selection of burgers in a small dish style. Bixton opened its doors earlier last week with a pre-opening, but officially opened this weekend with pomp and show,” said Róbert Aron Magnússon, one of the owners of the place in September 2024.
Small towns for 40th birthday
Influencer Brynja Dan served up mini burgers from Brixton as she celebrated her 40th birthday.
“As I wanted to keep the fun outside and use the garden, I rented a tent from Exton, light series and various party supplies from Rent a Party and made it as warm as possible outside. I also moved many things from the Barn in Álftanes to the garden. When it came to choosing refreshments, I chose things that are easy to grab for eating, as the idea was that party guests could take the food out. I decided to have small burgers from Brixton, which then stole the show – because it’s authentic cowboy food that you can eat anywhere. There were five types of burgers: chicken, pork brisket, and vegan burgers. These are the best burgers I’ve ever tasted, and I was so happy to taste something new,” Brynja dreymin said in an interview on mbl.is.
In November 2025, TikTok star and influencer Adam Karl Helgason collaborated with Sigurð Gunnlaugsson and they created a special menu together.
Grímur Sigurðarson, a lawyer at the Landslögmen, is the executor and it appears in the Lögbirtingablaði that he declares claims in the estate.
