Brazilian fans stole the spotlight in the American city of Philadelphia after they carried out a new football prank targeting their historical rival, the Argentine national team, by invoking what is known in South American football culture as (the Mova Curse), which is associated with bringing jinxes and bad luck.
Hundreds of Brazilian fans gathered at the famous statue of Rocky Balboa, before a number of them dressed him in the Argentine national team’s jersey, in a sarcastic move aimed – according to popular belief – at bringing misfortune to the tango team. Pictures and videos spread quickly on social media, as fans appeared celebrating and singing around the statue, which was dressed in blue and white.
The joke received widespread interaction among the fans of the two teams, as the Argentines responded with a cheerful spirit, stressing that any “curse” would not affect the world champion’s career, while the Brazilians considered “Mova” to be part of the historical competition that goes beyond the green rectangle and extends to the stands and communication platforms.
On the sports front, the Brazilian national team strengthened its presence in the tournament with an important victory over Haiti by 3 clean goals, from which Matheus Cunha scored two goals, while Vinicius Junior continued his brilliance with a goal and two assists, raising Brazil’s score to four points at the top of Group C on goal difference over Morocco.
