Through a statement, the highest body of the Public Ministry expressed its “most energetic rejection” of the police action and expressed its “total solidarity and institutional support” for the affected magistrates.

Hours later, the National Police of Peru issued a statement in which it defended the intervention carried out in Ucayali and maintained that it occurred after receiving a complaint about the existence of 17 previously marked ballot papers at the Diego Ferrer Sosa educational institution.
According to the police version, when the agents began the preliminary proceedings they learned that the cards had been withdrawn by representatives of the Public Ministry.
The institution indicated that said action would have implied an alleged usurpation of functions, considering that the preliminary investigation of the events corresponded to the National Police in accordance with a ruling by the Constitutional Court.
In this context, he indicated that two members of the Public Ministry were arrested in flagrante delicto for the alleged crime of real and personal concealment of the authors of an offense against the popular will.

The PNP requested that the current constitutional and legal framework be respected and requested that the marked cards be made available for police investigations, noting that said material remains in the custody of the Public Ministry.
