Residents of the states of Cojedes and Guárico protested on the night of this Saturday, September 26, by burning tires and closing public roads, to demand a government response to the constant and prolonged blackouts that affect both entities.
The demonstrations arose spontaneously in various municipalities, due to the continuous deterioration of the energy infrastructure and the lack of solutions which, they pointed out, should be raised by the government.
In Cojedes, the citizens of San José de Mapuey took the main roads to express their rejection of rationing, according to videos broadcast through social networks. “Let Donald Trump know that this is how we Venezuelans dance in the streets,” said a citizen in the middle of the protest.
Likewise, in the Guárico state the Night demonstrations lit up the streets of the Ortiz municipality and the Parapara parish, where the residents blocked the accesses with burning tires in rejection of suspensions of electrical service.
During the day, the protesters denounced the constant neglect of public organizations in energy matters and pointed out that the electrical crisis coincides with severe failures in the supply of drinking water in the communities.
These street actions add to the demand that Venezuelans from different regions have been making for weeks to denounce the paralysis of daily activities due to lack of electricity.
Likewise, the protesters reiterated requests to the United States government to prioritize the attention to the needs of the Venezuelan people above the oil negotiations.
