“Relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar demonstrate significant momentum. The political and economic partnership is actively developing. The official visit of the Belarusian president to Myanmar in November 2025 gave a new impetus to trade between the two countries,” Vladimir Orlovsky said.
Thus, in January-April 2026, trade between the two countries grew 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2025.
The chairman of the State Customs Committee explained that cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Myanmar is currently carried out within the World Customs Organization, as well as through the implementation of multilateral international treaties to which both states are parties.
Speaking about the ratified agreement, Vladimir Orlovsky noted that it serves as a main framework for the parties and defines the core principles and forms of cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries, including the procedure for exchanging information for various purposes. “The exchange of information provided for by the provisions of the agreement will allow for the timely receipt of data necessary for the proper collection of customs duties, the correct classification of goods in bilateral trade, the accurate determination of the customs value of imported goods, ensuring compliance with non-tariff regulation measures, and combating customs offenses,” the chairman of the State Customs Committee explained.
Responding to a question from MP Aleksandr Omelyanyuk, who inquired about the expected breakthrough in cooperation between the two countries’ customs authorities following the ratification, Vladimir Orlovsky noted that the agreement’s entry into force would allow the customs services to cooperate directly.
“This is a main agreement that marks the beginning of normal cooperation between customs services,” he explained. “On the basis of this agreement, further work to deepen cooperation between customs authorities is carried out, and new agreements are developed. This includes assistance in customs matters, where customs services already accept each other’s documents and ease controls in certain areas, taking into account that the control is conducted by the country of departure.”

Additionally, an agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Indonesia on the mutual protection of classified information was ratified on 3 June.
