    Behind closed doors: What was concluded at the Assembly Committee about the work of the BIA? – Society


    The Committee for the Control of the Security Services by a majority of votes adopted at a session closed to the public, regular Reports on the work of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) and Reports on the security situation in Serbia, with the assessment that the members of the service successfully preserved the security of the country, the National Assembly announced.

    The reports include all the most significant activities in the reporting period, ending on March 31 of this year, which comprehensively reflect the work and enable a complete overview of the activities and tasks under the jurisdiction of the BIA.

    The members of the service successfully protected the security of Serbia, by efficiently collecting all security-intelligence data and knowledge of importance for the security of the country, as well as by informing the competent state authorities in a timely manner, which led to the prevention of any attempt to collapse the constitutional order, as stated in the announcement.

    The reports were presented by BIA director Vladimir Orlić, who during the discussion provided answers to questions related to the reviewed reports.

    In addition to the regular reports, additional clarifications were given on the submitted Information on the circumstances of the events that led to the deprivation of liberty of the then head of the Police Department for the city of Belgrade.

    The members of the Board expressed their interest in the knowledge that the BIA has about the activities of foreign services and criminal clans in Montenegro, which are trying to threaten the security of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

    The President of the Board, Igor Bečić, pointed out that the members of the BIA, with their work, expertise and dedication, make a significant contribution to the protection of the security interests of Serbia and its citizens, and that they have the support of the Board in this.

    He noted that it is very important that all the security services of the Republic of Serbia continue the good practice of cooperation and joint action, especially now when the whole world is facing various challenges, risks and threats, it was stated in the announcement.
