Representativeness
The governor of the province of Azilal Hassan Zitouni chaired, Wednesday June 17, 2026, an information and communication meeting dedicated to the Support Fund for encouraging the representativeness of women, in the presence of the secretary general of the province, the head of the internal affairs division, pashas of the towns of Azilal and Demnate, heads of circles, as well as representatives of the associative fabric and local political authorities.
This meeting aims to make local officials and civil society actors aware of the missions and operating mechanisms of this fund, established to promote the participation of women in political and electoral life at the national level, while promoting their access to positions of responsibility and decision-making spheres in different sectors.
It should be recalled that the Support Fund for encouraging the representation of women was created in 2009, in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI announced at the opening of the October 2008 session of the first legislative year. This strategic instrument aims to support the involvement of women in political life and expand their presence in leadership and decision-making spaces.
During this meeting, Idriss Alaoui, coordinator of the coordination and monitoring unit in the province of Azilal, presented the various programs of the fund as well as the financing mechanisms made available to beneficiaries, detailing the conditions and procedures for access to these support mechanisms. The discussions also focused on the importance of initiatives carried out by civil society associations and political groups in promoting the engagement of women in political action, as well as on successful experiences carried out in other provinces in order to strengthen the impact of the fund at the local level.
On this occasion, two associations having benefited, for the 2025 financial year, from the honor of carrying out projects financed by this system presented their respective experiences. These initiatives constitute an important step in promoting the objectives of the program, focused on strengthening the political participation of women and girls, as well as developing their skills in leadership and local governance, in accordance with the provisions of the 2011 Constitution and the principles of participatory democracy.
The participants, in particular the heads of circles and representatives of civil society, underlined the need to consolidate cooperation between local authorities and associative actors in order to ensure the success of programs dedicated to the empowerment of women and to create an environment conducive to their involvement in public life, with a view to increasing their representativeness and consolidating their role as actors in development and decision-making within the province of Azilal.
This meeting is part of a national dynamic aimed at strengthening the political and social empowerment of women, expanding the financial and technical support mechanisms intended for them and promoting a more equitable and balanced participation of women and men in political life, both at the national and territorial level.
