The Church “reads and interprets the dynamisms of history starting from the Gospel, denouncing evil in all its forms and announcing, with words and deeds, the salvation that Christ wants to bring about for all humanity and his Kingdom of justice, love and peace”. Leo XIV said this at this morning’s general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
Continuing the reflections on the documents of the Second Vatican Council and in particular on the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen gentiumthe Pope highlighted how the mission of the Church – “pilgrim in history” and “guardian of a hope that illuminates the path” – is also that of “uttering clear words to reject everything that mortifies life and prevents its development”, also taking “a stand in favor of the poor, the exploited, the victims of violence and war and all those who suffer, in body and spirit”.
At the end of the catechesis, in greetings to the thirty thousand present and to those connected through the media, the Pontiff remarked that in the face of injustice and violence, the Risen Christ revives hope.
Finally, in the Marian month of May, the Bishop of Rome renewed the invitation, launched last Sunday at the «Regina Caeli», to pray the rosary.
