German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul today held an unexpected meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, at the UN. The German chief diplomat himself, as reported by Politico, among other things, said that they do not accept “incidents like the drone attack in Leipzig”, and that he has warned Russia that Germany “may retaliate”.
About this, on the “X” social network, Gert Ewen Ungar, RT DE editor, shared images before the start of the meeting. In the shared video, Lavrov can be heard asking the German diplomat “is he alone or with the delegation”.
According to Ewen Ungar, the meeting took place at the request of the German side.
Deutschlands Außenminister Johann Wadephul hat am Rande der UN-Generalversammlung Russlands Außenminister Sergej Lawrow trefeffen. Das Treffen fand auf Wunsch der deutschen Seite statt. Wadephul untersagte die Aufzeichnung der Eröffnung des Gesprächs. Es gab im Anschluss keine Fragerunde. Es ist der erste diplomaticische Kontakt zwischen Deutschland und Russland auf Ministerebene seit über vier Jahren. Zuletzt war Außenministerin Baerbock im Jahr 2022 zu ihrem Antrittsbesuch in Moskau. Baerbock lieferte damals einen für sie typicalsen Verhaspler ab und mahnte die “Fressefreiheit” in Russland an.
