Anthony Patrick has reportedly taken over as coach of Molynes United, with reports that the two-time Manning Cup-winning coach led his first training session at the club this morning.
This marks Patrick’s return to the Jamaica Premier League.
It is understood that Patrick reported for training after the club issued a termination letter to head coach Jermaine Thomas last evening, following a meeting of its executives.
The club had asked Thomas to resign following his sixth defeat in eight games on Monday night, when Molynes went down 2-1 to Mount Pleasant FA.
It is understood that Thomas rejected the proposal to resign, as the club reportedly still owes him close to $1.5 million.
With the termination, Molynes United is obligated to pay the outstanding amount. A source close to the situation has informed Radio Jamaica Sports that an offer made to Thomas is for the club to pay the former coach in monthly instalments over a seven-month period, beginning in December.
The source also indicated that it is unlikely Thomas will accept the proposed payment terms.
It is not yet clear whether Thomas will pursue legal action, as he has declined to comment on the situation.
